The victory marks the 21-year-old's first WTA Finals title and extends her winning streak to 10 matches. She has now won eight titles this season, including the French Open and US Open.

Swiatek, who was the WTA Newcomer of the Year in 2020, has led the tour with 67 match wins this year. She is also the first Polish player to be ranked world No. 1 in singles.

In the WTA Finals, Swiatek defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals and Jessica Pegula in the final. She did not drop a set in any of her five matches in the tournament.

Swiatek's victory sets up a thrilling finale to the 2023 tennis season. She will now compete in the Billie Jean King Cup Finals with Poland, before closing out the year with the WTA Elite Trophy in Fort Worth, Texas.
